Rules of ThursdayNightCurry

ThursdayNightCurry is really easygoing and laid back. But because of that, we have to have some rules. Nothing serious, it just helps everyone have a good time.

  1. The Bill.
The bill at the end of the night is split evenly among all the people at the table.
This could be seen as unfair, but it's really the only way of stopping arguments at the end of the night. It also makes it easier for the staff.
The average price thus far in Wellington has been $30. With a range from $28-$35.
This is going to vary depending on which city you are in. So if you need a better idea, then please email the invite email address for your city

There have also been times when people have had such a good time that they have forgotten to pay. This leaves the person at the end with a rather large bill.
To get around this, we have developed a rather sneeky plan. Someone responsible at the table, writes down the name of every one there. I tend to do this after the mains are served. That way you know who is attending. Its a great way to meet people too.
You then pass this to the staff at the counter. They can use it to decide how many portions the bill will be divided up by. You then tell everyone to make sure that when they pay, they get their name (and anyone else they are paying for) crossed off. That way if there are portions left over at the end, atleast we know who to contact about it.

  2. Invites
ThursdayNightCurry is not about being an exclusive club. There are no formal invites. So consider yourself invited. It's about getting together, drinking some Kingfisher, eating some curry and chatting.
To this end anyone is welcome, you can bring whoever you like. Alot of the regulars first came along as someone elses guest.
We do get a bit of pressure from the restaurant about this. Mainly because they want to know how many people they will be expecting. Because of this, it REALLY helps us if you can email us and let someone know if you are planning to come (and if you are bringing guests).

We may look at an invite mailing list/rsvp website at a later date. But for now, email the invite alias for your city, and come along.

If you are stuck for an address to email then invite@thursdaynightcurry.com is always a safe bet.

  3. Conversation Topics
We don't care what you talk about. Some people in the past have expressed concern about the ammount of "Shop Talk". Because most of the people come from IT background, the conversation can degrade into shop talk at times. If this sort of thing bothers you then you might want to take this into account upfront.

  4. Standard NDA
There are a lot of people from different companies who attend ThursdayNightCurry, and a lot of Kingfisher is consumed. People should assume that anything talked about is in confidence and is not to be said outside of the restaurant. "What goes on tour, stays on tour."

  5. Place
Well ThursdayNightCurry started off in Wellington. But now there are chapters in 2-3 other cities with more on the way.

There is a list of cities below. You should click on the link and see what that page has to say. The ThursdayNightCurry organisation is handled by different people in different places, so those pages are the best way to get information.

If you are from Wellington then...
The current place is Daawat on Manners St in Wellington. The time changes from week to week depending on people's schedule. Sending mail to invite@thursdaynightcurry.com gets you the latest weeks time.
